A historic company in Reggio Emilia that makes sunglass lenses has just installed a CNC machine to automatically cut eyeglass lenses on PVC plastic 24 hours a day.
The requirement: continuous removal of waste products
The plastic swarf produced by CNC machine cutting is numerous, light and sometimes bulky. The customer’s need was to continuously remove the produced plastic chips so that the production line would not have to be interrupted to perform CNC cleaning and maintenance, while maintaining maximum production efficiency of the plant.
The DU-PUY solution : a custom-built electric fan extraction system
The vacuum system designed by Du-Puy includes 3 separate elements: a Dedust 50 electric fan with filter unit and silos for collecting separated materials.
The vacuum system was installed on the floor below the CNC machinery to allow free space for workers operating in a small production environment.
The dust collector, blade-type with 11kW of power, ensures a suitable air flow rate for the continuous removal of scrap produced by the CNC.
The filter unit is equipped with 4 filter cartridges and an automatic filter cleaning system in counter-current of air.
Thanks to the dust collector, scrap is sucked up and collected in a silo with an integrated cyclone, a feature that provides greater protection for the filter unit.
Thanks to this configuration, the dust collector always remains clean, 100% efficient, and requires marginal maintenance.
